Petrobras technology in the world's showroom
Our technology, developed for deepwater and ultradeep water applications, has gained worldwide recognition with our American offshore operations in the Gulf of Mexico
In the United States, we have activities in exploration and production, and have formed partnerships with some of the largest oil companies in the world. We are also active in the trading segment, marketing oil and other products. We have operated in the refining segment since 2008, in Pasadena Refining System Inc., which has a processing capacity of 110,000 barrels per day.
High technology in the Gulf of Mexico
In early 2012, we started producing at the Cascade field, by means of Cascade 4, drilled to a depth of about 8,000 meters. The well is connected to the BW Pioneer, the first floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel to produce oil and gas in the American portion of the Gulf of Mexico.
The vessel platform is capable of processing 80,000 barrels of oil and 500,000 cubic meters of gas per day and can store 500,000 barrels of oil. Its anchoring system is detachable, allowing the vessel to be moved to sheltered areas during hurricanes and storms, thus affording safety to the crew and to the environment and preserving the equipment.
In addition to the FPSO, oil transportation by means of shuttle tankers and the use of self-sustainable submerged pumps and risers (submarine outflow lines) are among the innovations we introduced in the region.
